If your teeth don’t look as nice as you would like them to, veneers might be the answer. The cosmetic dentists at Creek Dental of Salt Lake City and Layton place veneers to correct discoloration and issues with teeth being misshapen or out of alignment.
Veneers are a fairly quick and easy way to transform your smile. Whatever it is about your teeth that cause you embarrassment, talk to our cosmetic dentists about whether veneers can help. Practicing a closed-lip smile to hide unattractive teeth does a disservice to you — and whoever is the recipient of your smile, who may perceive it as insincere.
If your teeth are severely discolored — whether due to medication, genetics, trauma, or another reason — they may not respond to traditional whitening techniques. In these cases, our dentists may suggest veneers.
Patients with misshapen teeth might also opt to get veneers. Whether your teeth have gaps or have become crooked over the years, if they are an unusual shape or size or are irregular in some other way, veneers can cover them up so you present a beautiful, bright smile to the world.
Porcelain veneers are the best type of veneers to get. But because they are also the most expensive, some patients opt for composite veneers.
Composite veneers are made of a synthetic resin. They are more resistant to staining than natural teeth but slightly less resistant than porcelain veneers.
Our cosmetic dentists can give you a beautiful new smile with veneers. With composite veneers, we start by removing a small section of the surface of your tooth. Dentists generally do not recommend altering healthy teeth, so we often try other methods of restoring your smile before resorting to veneers.
For instance, if you have one or more chipped teeth or slightly uneven surfaces, we may be able to repair them with bonding. Or if the source of discoloration is unknown, we might try bleaching agents first.
If, however, your teeth are seriously discolored or misshapen and other treatments fail, we offer veneers.
After we remove the section of your tooth, we place temporary veneers in your mouth until the laboratory manufactures your permanent ones, which usually takes two to four weeks.
The final step in the process is attaching your veneers. Once this is done, you’ll be ready to show off your Insta-worthy smile to the whole world!
If you have stained or misshapen teeth, contact the Creek Dental offices in Salt Lake City or Layton to make an appointment for a consultation, and find out if veneers might be right for you.
